Team Activities
Engaging in serious “business-as-usual” activities is considered to be the right way for serious people at work. There is no space for “silly” activities that don’t seem to be professional, steal precious time, and divert the focus away from the current business problems.
This point of view prevails in many workplaces.
Until people try and experience the power of team activities that aim to build trust, foster relationships, get to know each other better, and learn how to work together more effectively by leveraging the strengths and diversity of all team members.
Such activities help solve real team problems, improve the efficiency of communication and collaboration, and lead to increased effectiveness and innovation.
These activities will be particularly useful if you feel that:
- Team members don’t feel at ease with each other
- They are afraid of conflicts or disagreements
- They don’t feel safe or confident enough to express their opinions or propose their solutions and ideas
- The same individuals always propose ideas, while others remain silent
- Relationships within the team are purely transactional
- Groupthink prevails
- No new ideas emerge
Are you planning a team-building event, workshop, or training for your team? Do you want to get to know your team members better and allow them to get to know you and each other on a personal level? Or just to try to do something that you never have don within your team and observe the impact?
